Flood threat rises again in Keonjhar as Baitarani river crosses danger mark
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 14 -- Flood situation has worsened again in Odisha's Keonjhar after heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas led to a rise in water levels in several rivers on Thursday evening. The Baitarani River has also crossed the danger mark at Patna.
The district administration is on alert as the water is expected to reach Anandapur in a few hours.
Water from the upper catchment areas has been gradually moving towards the lower reaches, leading to waterlogging in several areas. More than 150 people from low-lying areas were rescued by the administration during the night and provided shelter in a school building.
