Bhubaneswar, Nov. 2 -- The Janibili anicut dam in Ganjam district of Odisha has suffered damage during the recent floods. Several iron shutter plates have been damaged and water is flowing out through the affected section. Repair work is underway to restore the structure.

The anicut supplies water to Berhampur and other areas of southern Ganjam through its canal. However, the damage has disrupted the water flow. Locals fear the canal may dry up within a few days if the repairs are not completed soon.

Around 23 iron shutter plates have been affected by the flood. Three JCB machines have been deployed at the site. Workers are placing sandbags in an effort to control the water flow and repair the damaged section, said sources.
