Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 -- The last rites of Banamali Behera's son, two daughters, son-in-law and three grandchildren were completed at Swargadwar in Odisha's Puri on Sunday, with seven funeral pyres lit together. The bodies were brought to Odisha from Madhya Pradesh by special ambulance late on Saturday night.

In the presence of administrative officials from Madhya Pradesh, the bodies and the belongings recovered were handed over to the family members. The mortal remains were then taken to the family's residence at Jayadev Vihar.

Later, the bodies were taken to Banamali Behera's ancestral home at Gadakan. Relatives, friends and other family members gathered there to pay their last respects.
