Bhubaneswar, Oct. 23 -- A suspected racket involving fake doctorate degrees has come to light in Berhampur in Ganjam and other parts of Odisha. Organisations are allegedly offering such certificates for money. According to reports, people are being contacted through phone calls and offered doctorate degrees for as little as Rs 7,000, without the usual academic requirements.

The organisations are also reportedly inviting people to register for a special programme scheduled for October 25, 2026 at Ganjam Kala Parishad in Berhampur. Such offers have raised concerns over the sale of academic honours and the legitimacy of the institutions involved.
