Elephant found dead in Angul; forest department launches probe
Bhubaneswar, May 25 -- An elephant was found dead in the Manorbeda-Kheshera forest under the Madhapur Range of Athmallik in Odisha's Angul district on Monday.
Following the incident, the Forest Department launched an investigation into the death. The elephant had reportedly separated from its herd nearly eight years ago and had been roaming alone in the forest since then.
According to reports, the elephant was regularly tracked by Forest Department officials, and so far, it had not caused harm to anyone. The animal had reportedly been unwell for quite some time and was also in its old age.
