Bhubaneswar, April 22 -- An elderly woman was killed in an elephant attack at Chadchadi village under Jamjori panchayat in Sambalpur district on Wednesday, triggering panic among residents over the movement of wild elephants in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Upasi Behera. According to reports, she had gone to a nearby cashew orchard in the morning when she came in contact with an elephant.
Locals said the woman was caught off guard and was attacked by the animal. She was trampled to death on the spot, leaving no chance for rescue.
