Bhubaneswar, July 8 -- A 65-year-old man was trampled to death by a tusker in Dimbatola village under the Koida Forest Range of Sundargarh district in Odisha on Wednesday morning, adding to the growing human-elephant conflict in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Jalua Oram. According to villagers, he had spent the night at a neighbour's house as he was afraid of staying alone at his own residence due to the movement of a particular tusker in the area. While returning home on Wednesday morning, the elephant allegedly attacked him, repeatedly throwing him to the ground. He died on the spot.
