Bhubaneswar, March 15 -- While the war in the Middle East has triggered price hikes affecting Indians, there is some relief in the form of falling egg prices in Odisha.

In Balasore, the wholesale price of eggs has dropped to Rs 180 per tray, while the retail price in the open market is around Rs 7 per egg on Sunday.

Earlier, a tray of eggs was being sold for over Rs 200, and the retail price ranged between Rs 8 and Rs 9 per egg, traders said.

According to reports, eggs from Andhra Pradesh are usually exported to several Middle Eastern countries. However, due to the impact of the ongoing war, egg exports have been affected. As a result, a larger supply of eggs is now entering the Odisha market, leading to the decline in prices.
