Bhubaneswar, April 10 -- In a significant victory for India's anti-smuggling efforts, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has successfully dismantled a major gold smuggling syndicate, seizing nearly 30 kg of gold valued at an estimated Rs 38 crore. The operation, dubbed "Dhahabu Blitz," resulted in the arrest of 24 women carriers who were attempting to smuggle the precious metal into the country.
The DRI acted on specific intelligence and launched the operation at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, one of the country's busiest airports. The crackdown targeted a group of female passengers traveling from Nairobi, who were allegedly part of a well-organized international smuggling network.
