Bhubaneswar, April 6 -- In a landmark shift for India's administrative history, the nation is preparing to launch Census 2027, a project defined by its transition from paper to a completely digital infrastructure. 

Odisha is set to play a pioneering role in this transition, appearing in the very first cohort of states eligible for the newly introduced "self-enumeration" facility.

Unlike the traditional decennial exercises, Census 2027 will rely on mobile applications for data recording during door-to-door visits. 

To streamline the process, the Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced a web-based self-enumeration portal, allowing citizens to bypass long interviews by submitting their household details online in advance.
