Bhubaneswar, Oct. 15 -- In a significant move to boost Odisha's air connectivity and transport infrastructure, the state government has decided to establish a civil aviation operation centre in Dhenkanal, which is expected to become functional within the next two years.

According to official sources, the government plans to launch direct flight operations to 10 new domestic and three new international destinations as part of its Vision 2036 and Vision 2047 roadmap.

The Odisha government is also focusing on improving air accessibility in remote and urban regions through the development of new heliports. Under the UDAN scheme, at least five new airports are proposed to be developed by 2036, including an international airport at Puri.
