Bhubaneswar, July 1 -- A controversy has surfaced over the ongoing development of tourism infrastructure near the Udayagiri Buddhist Complex in Jajpur, Odisha after the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) issued a stop-work notice for the construction of a road and a proposed Buddha Park.

The project, being executed near Gopalpur Chhak, close to the entrance of the heritage site, was aimed at improving tourist facilities. However, the ASI objected to the work, alleging that excavation and construction activities were being carried out within a protected area and on government land without approval.
