Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 -- Odisha is bracing for another spell of intense rainfall as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, raising concerns across several districts. The system is currently located around 180 km from Balasore and is expected to move towards West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar within the next 24 hours.

Under the influence of the depression, several parts of Odisha are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall today. With the weather system moving closer, authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for extremely heavy rainfall in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Kendrapara districts for today.
