Bhubaneswar, Aug. 28 -- CCTV cameras installed across Odisha's Balasore city to keep watch on criminals and improve public safety have reportedly turned into showpieces, with a large number of them remaining non-functional.

More than 170 CCTV cameras have been installed at over 14 locations across the city. The cameras were put up at a cost of lakhs of rupees, with support from various institutions and prominent people. The aim was to improve security, keep an eye on criminal activities and help police identify offenders.
