Bhubaneswar, May 3 -- Tension prevailed at a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar's Sikharchandi area following the death of a first-year student on Saturdya night. Allegations of ragging and questions over the circumstances leading to the incident were also raised.

The deceased has been identified as Biswas Swain from Jagatsinghpur.

According to information, unrest continued on the campus till late on Saturday night after news of the student's death spread. Police reached the spot and counselled students in an attempt to bring the situation under control.

However, no official reaction was available from the college authorities at the time of reporting.
