Bhubaneswar, July 4 -- For years, Jisayo Kandha and his parents nurtured a simple dream. The tribal student from the remote village of Durgapata in Odisha's Gajapati district wanted to study hard, become an engineer, and lift his family out of poverty.

His parents, who earn a living through farming and daily wage labour, did everything they could to support his education despite their limited means.

Today, that dream hangs in the balance.

Jisayo, a first-year diploma student at Vedanta Engineering College in Khordha, has been diagnosed with bone cancer in his right leg. What began as persistent pain soon turned into a devastating diagnosis, leaving the family struggling emotionally and financially.
