Damaged bridge puts villagers' lives at risk in Odisha's Mayurbhanj
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 6 -- A bridge that was once a lifeline for villagers has now become a daily battle with danger. Hundreds of people in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district are risking their lives every day while crossing a damaged bridge over the Tangana River, as the construction of a new bridge remains incomplete despite the allocation of crores of rupees.
The delay has severely affected transportation, healthcare access, education, and the livelihoods of people living in several villages.
With every step bringing fear, villagers cross the broken bridge with the risk of falling into the deep river below. The old bridge, which has developed major cracks and collapsed in parts, is still being used due to the absence of an alternative route.
