Bhubaneswar, Sept. 20 -- A possible cyclone threat is being closely monitored as a low-pressure area has formed over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. The weather system is likely to intensify and bring heavy rain to Odisha from September 22 to 25.

The weather department said that the system formed on Saturday evening and is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify further. It is expected to develop into a depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal on September 21.

The system may further intensify into a deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal on September 22.
