Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 -- Depression over the Bay of Bengal is set to intensify further and is likely to become a deep depression by this evening. This intensified the threat of heavy rain closer to Odisha. The system is currently located 220 km south-east of Gopalpur and 320 km east of Visakhapatnam, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The system is expected to move towards the Odisha coast and is likely to cross the coast between tomorrow night and the early hours of September 24. With the system strengthening, rainfall activity is also expected to increase across several parts of the state.
