Bhubaneswar, June 1 -- A massive fire that broke out at the fish market near Press Chhak in Cuttack,Odisha late on Sunday night caused extensive damage to the market complex, destroying several shops and severely impacting a branch of Bank of India located within the premises. Firefighters battled the blaze for more than six hours amid dense smoke and extreme heat as efforts to completely extinguish the fire continued.

According to preliminary reports, the fire spread rapidly through the market, engulfing one shop after another before emergency teams could bring the situation under control. By the time fire service personnel reached the spot, a substantial portion of the market had already been gutted.
