Centre may increase permanent absorption quota for Agniveers
Bhubaneswar, July 6 -- The Central Government is reportedly considering a proposal to increase the percentage of Agniveers retained as permanent personnel after the completion of their four-year service under the Agnipath Scheme. However, no official announcement has been made by the Ministry of Defence so far.
According to media reports, the armed forces are reviewing the Agnipath recruitment scheme as the first batch of Agniveers is set to complete its four-year tenure in October 2026. Under the existing policy, only 25 per cent of Agniveers are eligible for permanent induction into the Army, Navy, and Air Force based on merit and organisational requirements, while the remaining 75 per cent receive a Seva Nidhi package of around Rs 12 ...
