Bhubaneswar, April 11 -- In a significant development, the Central Government has extended the tenure of the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal by another year, providing more time for the resolution of the long-pending interstate river dispute.

As per an official notification issued by the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation), the tribunal's term has now been extended till January 13, 2027. The previous tenure was scheduled to end on April 14, 2026.
