Bhubaneswar, March 19 -- The first phase of the Census in Odisha will commence on April 16 across all 30 districts, with house listing and housing data to be collected through a digital enumeration process, officials said.

Enumerators will visit households as part of the exercise, marking the beginning of a technology-driven Census in the state.

According to officials, trained enumerators and supervisors will carry out door-to-door data collection during the first phase. The exercise will continue for 30 days and is scheduled to conclude on May 15, 2026.

Ahead of the fieldwork, a provision for self-enumeration has been introduced from April 1 to midnight of April 15, allowing residents to submit their details independently.
