Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 -- A senior railway engineer and a private individual were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an alleged Rs 15 lakh bribery case linked to a Rs 7 crore bonus claim, officials said on Sunday.

The arrested men is identified as Bapiraju, Senior Section Engineer in the office of the Chief Signal and Telecommunications Engineer Projects of South Central Railway in Vijayawada, and Srichand, son of the managing director of Yella Constructions Pvt Ltd.

The case relates to an Automatic Block Signalling project worth Rs 179.50 crore awarded to a joint venture between Ganapathi Engineering Works and Yella Constructions Pvt Ltd. The joint venture later claimed a bonus of about Rs 7 crore for completing the...
