Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29 -- A BJP mandal president was severely injured after three people allegedly attacked him with sharp weapons in Ganjam district of Odisha on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Kalia Nayak, president of the BJP's Haradapadar mandal in Aska.

The attack took place on the Kamashasan-Gaudagotha road while Nayak was travelling to his village, Gaudagotha, on a motorcycle. According to the reports, three persons approached him on the isolated stretch of road and attacked him with sharp weapons.

Nayak sustained severe injuries in the attack. He was initially taken to Aska for treatment and was later shifted to Berhampur for further treatment.
