Bhubaneswar, Oct. 20 -- In a significant development in the investigation of the murder case of BJP leader and senior lawyer Pitabas Panda in Berhampur, police have picked up a local politician on Sunday.

As per sources, the politician in question has had several cases registered against them in the past. However, the police have not yet clarified what connection, if any, this politician has to the murder case.

Earlier in the case, the Berhampur police had also interrogated a Corporator, and currently, along with the Corporator and a student leader, a total of eight people are being scanned as part of the investigation by the police.
