Bhubaneswar, April 11 -- BJD MP Sasmit Patra has urged Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram to intervene in the Sijimali issue in Odisha. Patra has written a letter to the Minister seeking immediate action over the situation.

In his letter, Patra alleged that the police are acting in a biased manner against tribal communities. He stated that tribal men and women have been protesting against the proposed bauxite mining project in the region.

He further claimed that several tribals were injured in police action during the protests, calling the incident deeply concerning. Patra requested the Union Minister to step in urgently to ensure the protection of the rights, dignity, and safety of tribal people.
