Bhubaneswar, March 11 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is witnessing fresh resignations in Balasore district, days after senior leader Rabindra Kumar Jena quit the party, raising questions about the organisation's strength in the region.

In the latest development, Sunita Behera, Chairperson of Balasore Sadar Block, announced her resignation from the party. Her decision comes shortly after another local leader from the district stepped down.

Speaking after her resignation, Sunita Behera said she and several other leaders had sought an appointment with BJD president Naveen Patnaik, but were not given an opportunity to meet him.
