Bhadrak flooded again as Baitarani swells for fifth time in 50 days
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 3 -- Bhadrak has been hit by floods for the fifth time in just 50 days after the Baitarani river swelled again and left several areas of Chandbali block severely affected.
Though the water level at Akhuapada started receding, the situation remained serious in Chandbali. Several villages under Aradi, Olag, Nandapur and Sundarpur panchayats still remain cut off by floodwaters as strong currents were flowing over roads.
Fresh breaches also developed near Bodak and Sathibankuda along the Akhandalamani-Kuakhia National Highway-20. The floodwaters washed away sand and gravel from sections of the road that were repaired just five days ago.
Sandbags placed along the river embankment were also affected by the strong currents....
