Bhubaneswar, July 9 -- A Bangladeshi national and hardcore criminal, identified as Mohammad Babu Khan, was deported last night to his homeland, Bangladesh, after serving a 14-year prison sentence in Odisha's Balasore district, police sources said on Thursday.

Balasore Police escorted the history-sheeter to the Benapole-Petrapole border along the India-Bangladesh frontier at night, where he was handed over following due procedures.

According to police, Babu Khan had illegally entered India in 2002 without a valid passport or visa, claiming to have come in search of work as a labourer. However, investigators alleged that he later became involved in several criminal activities in Balasore.
