Bhubaneswar, June 1 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday intensified its investigation into the alleged 'mob violence' case that led to the death of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain in Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Acting on a complaint filed before the Commission, a two-member NHRC team launched a detailed inquiry into the incident and its aftermath. The NHRC delegation arrived in Bhubaneswar earlier in the day and is scheduled to stay in Odisha from June 1 to June 6 to conduct an extensive investigation.

The team is expected to examine multiple aspects of the case, including the circumstances leading to the violence, the response of law enforcement agencies, and allegations of negligence by the police....
