Bhubaneswar, Aug. 10 -- National Green Tribunal (NGT) sought a compliance report from the private lessee of Jamudiha Stone Quarry-2 in Balasore district within 10 days after a petition raised allegations of excess stone extraction and violations of environmental norms.

As reported by The New Indian Express, the direction was issued by the NGT's East Zone Bench, comprising Judicial Member Arun Kumar Tyagi and Expert Member Ishwar Singh. The Bench said that the application raised substantial environmental questions under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010.

The case was filed by Manas Ranjan Barik and Manoj Parida through advocates Sankar Prasad Pani and Ashutosh Padhy.
