Balasore farmers raise concern over poor germination of Odisha govt-supplied paddy seeds
Bhubaneswar, July 4 -- Farmers in Badapal area of Odisha's Balasore district voiced their concerns over the poor germination of government-supplied Champabati paddy seeds. They claimed that the seeds failed to sprout even after being sown in nursery beds, leaving cultivators worried as the sowing season progresses.
According to the farmers, the Champabati paddy seeds were purchased from a cooperative society at the government-fixed price. However, despite being kept in the nursery bed for several days, the seeds reportedly shown no signs of germination and allegedly began to rot.
