Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 -- The water level of the Baitarani River crossed the danger mark at Patna in Kendujhar district in Odisha on Monday following heavy rainfall in the region.

The water level reached 311.22 meters against the danger mark of 311.10 meters, said an official.

The rising water flooded several low-lying areas, while waterlogging on local roads made movement difficult in some places. Residents living near the riverbanks have been advised to remain alert. Villagers are closely monitoring the situation, as continued rainfall could worsen the flooding.

The district administration also initiated relief measures and kept emergency teams ready to respond if the situation worsened further.
