Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 -- A major robbery attempt at an SBI ATM on the Birmitrapur-Raiboga Road in Odisha's Sundargarh was foiled after the machine caught fire late on Sunday night. A group of miscreants allegedly tried to cut open the ATM using a glass cutter.

According to reports, the miscreants targeted the ATM and began cutting the machine with the glass cutter. However, the ATM suddenly caught fire during the attempt. This prompted the miscreants to immediately flee the spot, leaving the money behind.

Upon witnessing this, local residents immediately informed the police and fire services. The Kuarmunda fire brigade reached the spot and brought the blaze under control after making efforts for a considerable period.
