Bhubaneswar, Aug. 25 -- The lack of proper buildings at several Anganwadi centres in Odisha is affecting the learning environment for young children. In Mayurbhanj and Ganjam districts, children are attending classes under trees and on school verandahs as several centres do not have their own buildings.

At Kandashahi village under Deobanbahali panchayat in Kaptipada block of Mayurbhanj district, 22 children are attending the Anganwadi centre under a mango tree in front of the village committee building.

The centre has been functioning in such conditions for more than two years. Earlier, it was being run from the house of Anganwadi worker Phuleswari Munda. After the house was damaged, classes were shifted outside the committee building....
