After U.S, ISKCON holds another untimely Rath Yatra in Canada; Sudarsan Pattnaik seeks Jaishankar's intervention
Bhubaneswar, July 13 -- A fresh controversy has erupted over ISKCON conducting the Rath Yatra outside the traditional schedule followed by the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. After similar events in the United States, ISKCON conducted a two-day Rath Yatra in Toronto, Canada, on July 11 and 12, drawing criticism from Jagannath followers.
The festival was organised before the grand annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri, scheduled to be held on July 16, prompting allegations that ISKCON once again ignored the age-old ritual calendar observed at the Shree Jagannath Temple. The participation of officials from the Indian Consulate at the event has added to the controversy.
