Bhubaneswar, Oct. 1 -- Just a few days after the Bhubaneswar DCP sought voluntary retirement, another senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, R. Santh Gopalan, has applied for voluntary retirement from government service on Wednesday.

This comes around one-and-a-half years before the scheduled end of his tenure.

According to reports, Gopalan has sought voluntary retirement citing health-related and personal reasons. He has been serving as the Chief Electoral Officer for the past two years.

Gopalan, a 2001-batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary of the Excise Department.
