Acute blood shortage hits Odisha's Ganjam, patients wait days for a single unit
Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- Severe shortage of blood at the Bhanjanagar Blood Bank in Ganjam district has left patients and their families struggling to secure life-saving support, raising concerns over the growing gap between demand and supply.
According to sources, patients are often unable to receive blood as per medical requirements. In several cases, families have reportedly waited two to three days to obtain even a single unit of blood. The shortage has become particularly alarming for accident victims, pregnant women, anaemia patients, and those undergoing treatment for critical illnesses.
