Bhubaneswar, April 30 -- An 85-year-old woman from Satyabadi block in Odisha's Puri district collapsed on the way to a bank on Wednesday after allegedly not receiving her pension for the past three months. The incident drew attention to delays in disbursal and access challenges faced by elderly beneficiaries.

The woman, identified as Sukanti Dei, went to the nearby Sarangajodi Gramya Bank to withdraw her pension when she collapsed on the way. Local residents rescued her and shifted her to a medical facility.

She is dependent on her pension to purchase medicines for blood pressure, and the delay in payment caused difficulty in meeting her basic needs.
