Bhubaneswar, June 21 -- A tragic ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing unit in Tamil Nadu's Manjangaranai near Periyapalayam claimed seven lives and left dozens of workers hospitalised, prompting an immediate emergency response and a high-level probe ordered by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

According to police, 67 workers were affected after ammonia gas leaked from the facility, leading to breathing difficulties and other health complications. The incident was reported by the Tiruvallur District Collector's Office to the headquarters of the 4th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Arakkonam.
