Bhubaneswar, July 1 -- What began as a new chapter in a young woman's life allegedly turned into months of humiliation, abuse, and violence, ending in a tragic death. A 29-year-old staff nurse was strangled to death by her husband in Karnataka's Dharwad district after facing repeated body shaming, dowry harassment, and domestic abuse, according to police.

The victim, Priyanka Kamalakar, married Basavaraj Waddar in December 2024. However, police and the FIR state that within weeks of the marriage, she was allegedly subjected to constant harassment by her husband and his family members.
