Bhubaneswar, Nov. 9 -- A shocking case of alleged police brutality has emerged from Bhadrak district in Odisha, where a 14-year-old boy was reportedly assaulted by police personnel under Pirahat Police Station limits over allegations of mobile phone theft.

According to sources, the incident took place at Majhi Sahi village under Narendrapur panchayat. The victim, identified as Deeptikant Majhi, son of Sarat Majhi, had accompanied his father to the police station after being accused of stealing a mobile phone. However, instead of conducting a proper inquiry, police personnel allegedly took the boy to a secluded area behind the station and thrashed him mercilessly.
