Zoramthanga hails Mizoram Peace Accord, targets ZPM over Article 371G
Aizawl, June 30 -- Mizo National Front (MNF) president and former Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Tuesday described the 1986 Mizoram Peace Accord as India's "most successful" peace agreement and accused the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government of weakening the constitutional safeguards secured through the landmark pact.
Addressing a function at Thingsultliah in Saitual district to mark the 40th anniversary of the accord, observed as Remna Ni (Peace Day), Zoramthanga paid tribute to churches, civil society organisations, political parties and the people of Mizoram for their role in bringing lasting peace to the state.
