Guwahati, May 9 -- Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as the first Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister of West Bengal since Independence on May 9, marking a major political transition after the BJP ended the All India Trinamool Congress government's 15-year rule in the recently held Assembly elections.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Narendra Modi along with several senior NDA leaders and BJP functionaries. Soon after taking oath, Adhikari greeted the Prime Minister and other party leaders present at the event, expressing gratitude for their support as the BJP officially formed its first government in the state.
