Guwahati, April 13 -- The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it will enforce a blockade on maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports starting April 13, after ?President Donald Trump said the U.S. ?Navy would start blockading ?the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the blockade will come into effect at 10 a.m. ET (1400 GMT) and will apply to vessels of all nations entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including those along the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

The command clarified that the measure would be implemented impartially, while ensuring that freedom of navigation is maintained for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.
