Guwahati, May 7 -- Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Wednesday met Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and staked claim to form the next government in Tamil Nadu after his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single-largest party in the Assembly election.

Earlier sources said that Vijay was likely to take oath as Chief Minister on May 7, but that now appears unlikely as the Governor is yet to be convinced that TVK has the numbers needed to form the government. While talks are continuing, there is no official confirmation yet on government formation.

The actor-turned politician is firming up support to cross the majority mark in the Tamil Nadu assembly, sources said on Wednesday.
