Agartala, Aug. 7 -- The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tripura will begin on September 5 as part of a nationwide exercise covering 19 states and Union Territories to ensure that only eligible electors remain enrolled, Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey said on Friday.

"The exercise is being carried out to ensure that only eligible electors are enrolled in the electoral rolls. The electoral roll must be accurate, inclusive, updated and free of dead, duplicate, shifted and ineligible voters," Pandey told reporters.

The qualifying date for the exercise is October 1, 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on December 23. The state has around 28.97 lakh electors across 60 Assembly constituencies and ...
