Agartala, April 24 -- In a significant judgment, the High Court of Tripura has dismissed a public interest litigation alleging encroachment on a public road in Gomati district, holding that the petitioners suppressed material facts and misled the court.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice M S Ramachandra Rao and Justice Biswajit Palit also directed the restoration of structures that were demolished following an earlier court order and imposed costs on the petitioners.

The court said the petitioners failed to disclose that the road in question passed through the premises of Gomati District Hospital and separated key facilities, including the maternity and child care wing and administrative buildings.
