Tripura: Orange alert issued; 17 families evacuated amid floods in Dhalai
Agartala, July 8 -- Heavy rainfall triggered by an active southwest monsoon has affected several parts of Tripura, with the weather office issuing an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, Chhamanu in Dhalai district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 139.2 mm during the last 24 hours.
The heavy rain has also caused flooding in parts of Dhalai district. At least 17 families from Dhanya Ram Karbari Para under Chawmanu block were forced to leave their homes after floodwaters inundated the area. They have taken shelter in a rest house at the local school ground.
